She continued her studies while living/traveling in Europe for six years, as well as ongoing education through workshops with some of America’s top watercolor instructors. These include, M. Stephen Doherty, Editor in Chief, American Artist Magazine, John Salminen, Jan Kunz, Judi Betts, Jim Kosvanec, Gerald Brommer, Joseph Bohler, Joseph Fettingis, Mel Stabin, Jack Shields, Betty Carr, and Gary Curtis.

The Georgia Watercolor Society awarded Jan with its highest level of Achievement, “Signature Membership” in 2004, while the Missouri Watercolor Society has awarded Jan their "Signature Membership" Award in 2008. Jan’s work has been featured in numerous local and national publications, as well as a magazine cover for the internationally distributed, “Chronicle of the Horse”. Jan’s paintings are also in private collections across America and Europe.

Jan’s work is “Up Close and Personal” as she continuously strives to capture the “spirit” and genuine personalities of people, the unique nature of animals, the essence of a place and the many textures of things around her. Her representational paintings feature saturated color achieved by layers of washes.

Having traveled to 27 foreign countries, this Ohio native has been fortunate to have an endless supply of subject matter. Jan has been a dedicated artist for the past 10 years, having been a full time mother to her grown daughters, Jackie and Jenny. Jan lives in Kennesaw, GA with her husband, Robert and her special cat, “Sweet Pea”.
